Dickens was found by the side of the road in a condition no animal should ever have to endure. His body was broken. He had multiple fractures, a fractured spine, two broken legs and severe wounds infested with maggots. He arrived in one of those states that tests everything: medicine, courage, resources and hope.
But Dickens survived. More than that, he recovered in a way that still feels extraordinary. Against every expectation, he came back from the edge and became part of our family. He has now been with us for almost eleven years. Eleven years of safety after a life that nearly ended abandoned on the road. Eleven years of care, routine, food, treatments, monitoring and love.
Dickens is one of the great long-term residents of Let's Adopt. His story represents the heart of Extreme Rescue: the decision to step in when a case seems too broken, too expensive, too difficult or too far gone. Dickens was all of those things. And yet here he is.
Sponsoring Dickens means helping us continue caring for a dog whose life was saved because people refused to look away. Senior dogs and long-term residents need constant support. They need veterinary care, comfort, adapted routines, medication when necessary, and the quiet daily work that rarely appears in a dramatic rescue video but makes survival possible.
When you sponsor Dickens, you help us honour the promise we made to him years ago: that after everything he suffered, he would never be abandoned again.
